About Matthew Ian
Matthew Ian Paletz earned his law degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 2002 after completing a bachelor’s in communications at the University of Michigan in 1995. He moved from a communications background into law at the start of the 21st century. The academic record frames a career that crosses state lines and industry lines alike.
After law school Paletz entered practice in the Midwest and now holds admission in both Ohio and Michigan. He built experience handling matters tied to property, finance and housing over the years. That experience led him to found and run his own firm, where he handles daily decisions and client matters as chief executive.
As CEO of Paletz Law he oversees litigation and transactional work that serves owners, managers and creditors in the housing sector. His practice has involved landlord-tenant disputes, creditor remedies and issues that arise in manufactured housing communities and apartment operations. He works with clients that operate and finance residential property and manufactured home communities, often addressing regulatory, contract and enforcement questions that affect those businesses.
Paletz maintains active memberships in a broad set of industry and professional groups. He is currently listed with the Building Industry Association–Apartment Association of Michigan, the Detroit Metropolitan Apartment Association, the Institute of Real Estate Management, the Michigan Creditors Bar Association, the Michigan Manufactured Housing Association, the National Apartment Association, the Ohio Manufactured Homes Association and the Washtenaw Area Apartment Association. Those affiliations keep him connected to trade trends, regulatory developments and the practical concerns of property operators.
Colleagues describe him as pragmatic in approach and attentive to the operational realities his clients face. He combines courtroom experience and transactional practice, advising on collection matters, lease enforcement and compliance questions that arise in multi-tenant and manufactured housing settings. He is based in the Midwest and manages a case load that reflects the intersection of real property law and creditor remedies. He currently leads Paletz Law, where his practice centers on real estate, landlord-tenant matters, manufactured housing and creditors' rights.
