About Matthew G.

Matthew G. Pfau earned his Juris Doctor from Whittier Law School in 2007 after beginning his legal studies in 2004. He completed a traditional law school course of study and entered the bar shortly thereafter. His training at Whittier provided a foundation in core legal subjects and courtroom practice during a period of change in California legal education.

He moved into practice in the years following graduation and expanded his work across state lines. Pfau is admitted to practice in both California and Nevada, and his career has included roles in private practice that exposed him to regional legal issues. He joined H&P Law and rose through the firm’s ranks, becoming a partner in 2014. That promotion marked a shift from associate responsibilities to firm leadership and client management.

As a partner at H&P Law, Pfau handled a mix of matters that required coordination across jurisdictions. He has experience appearing in state courts in both California and Nevada and in advising clients on procedural and substantive issues that vary between those systems. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing cases and attentive to the procedural details that affect outcomes.

Pfau’s work style blends case preparation with courtroom readiness. He emphasizes careful fact development, thorough legal research, and clear communication with clients and opposing counsel. In transactional contexts he focuses on risk assessment and contract review. When litigation is required he prioritizes strategic planning and efficient case management. His dual licensure in California and Nevada shapes how he frames legal options for clients who operate in the region.

Outside of casework he has taken part in firm management responsibilities since becoming partner. That has included supervising junior lawyers and participating in decisions about resource allocation and client intake. He has maintained a steady practice at H&P Law while adjusting to changes in litigation practice and regional law.

In the current phase of his career Pfau continues to practice at H&P Law, representing clients in matters that touch both California and Nevada law. His present practice focuses on providing counsel and representation to clients with legal needs in those states.
