About Matthew Evers

Matthew Evers Willis built his legal foundation at Roger Williams University. He earned a B.S. in Administration of Justice in 1996 and returned to the same school for a J.D., awarded in 2000. Those years shaped his approach to courtroom work and community involvement.

Willis began his career practicing in Connecticut. Over time he has taken on both criminal and civil matters. He is active in litigation and criminal law circles and participates in local bar activities that shape practice standards across the county.

His professional affiliations are broad. He belongs to the Connecticut Bar Association, including its Litigation and Criminal Law sections, and the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. He is a member of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice. Locally, he participates in the Manchester Bar Association and the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.

Willis has taken on leadership roles in county and state bar governance. He served as president of the Tolland County Bar Association from 2016 to 2017. During the same period he represented his county on the Connecticut Council of Bar Presidents. Since 2015 he has been part of the Standing Committee on Recommendations for Admissions to the Bar of Tolland County. He has also been involved with the Judicial District of Tolland Security Committee.

Colleagues describe him as engaged in the practical details of case preparation and courtroom procedure. He appears regularly before Connecticut courts and draws on years of courtroom practice when advising clients. He handles criminal defense matters and civil litigation, and his association memberships reflect those areas of practice.

Outside courtrooms, Willis contributes to the local legal community through committee work and bar leadership. Those roles put him in contact with judges, court staff, and fellow lawyers on issues ranging from admissions recommendations to bar governance.

He is currently an attorney at Kahan Kerensky Capossela, LLP. He practices law in Connecticut and continues to handle criminal defense and civil litigation matters at his firm.
