About Matthew E.

Matthew E. Cook graduated from Piedmont College in 1996 and earned his J.D. from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law in 1999. He completed his legal studies at a time when the regional bench and bar were changing rapidly. That period shaped his early courtroom work and informed the way he approaches litigation today.

He joined the Georgia bar in 1999 and is admitted to practice before the Middle District of Georgia and other U.S. District Courts. Early in his career he took on a range of matters in state and federal court. Over time those matters formed the backbone of his practice. He is now a partner at Cook Law Group, LLC, where he handles cases that proceed through investigation, motion practice, and trial.

Cook’s work takes him into courtrooms and conference rooms alike. He files and defends claims, argues motions, prepares witnesses, and tries cases when necessary. That mix of tasks reflects a traditional litigation practice; it requires courtroom readiness and sustained case management. Clients encounter him at hearings, mediations, and jury trials, as well as in written pleadings and discovery disputes.

His professional affiliations mirror the litigation emphasis of his practice. He holds memberships in the Georgia State Bar (1999–present), the American Bar Association, and the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. He also belongs to the American Association for Justice and the E. Wycliffe Orr Inn of Court. Peers have noted his inclusion in Super Lawyers since 2012, a recognition that appears on his professional record.

Colleagues describe his courtroom approach as direct and methodical. He prepares cases to be understood by judges and juries. He also oversees the day-to-day work that a complex case requires, coordinating investigators, experts, and staff. That combination of trial work and case oversight defines much of his practice.

Outside the courthouse, Cook continues professional involvement through bar work and trial lawyer groups. He attends meetings and events tied to litigation practice and contributes to discussions on trial technique and procedure. Those activities keep him current on litigation trends and procedural developments at the state and federal levels.

He maintains his practice as a partner at Cook Law Group, LLC, representing clients in matters that progress through state and federal courts. His current practice focuses on civil litigation in Georgia and federal forums.
