About Matthew

Matthew DeBoard blends a background in science and communications with a legal education. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Communications from American University in 1994. He went on to complete his Juris Doctor at Florida A&M University College of Law in 2011. That combination of technical training and legal study appears throughout his approach to cases and client work.

After law school he entered private practice. Within a few years he rose to firm leadership. In 2013 he became a partner at Barrister Law Office, P.A. That role placed him at the center of the firm's litigation and counseling matters. He has remained with the firm since, taking on responsibilities that include case strategy and courtroom work.

He is authorized to practice in the State of Florida and in the Federal District Court for the Middle District of Florida. Those admissions allow him to handle matters that begin in state court and, when necessary, proceed in federal court. He regularly appears in filings and proceedings before the Middle District.

His academic grounding in physics and communications informs how he evaluates technical material and explains complex topics to judges and clients. He brings a methodical style to evidence review and to preparing witnesses. Colleagues say his written work is clear and aimed at clarity rather than flourish.

DeBoard maintains professional ties in the local legal community. He is a current member of the Orange County Bar Association and holds other professional memberships. He participates in bar activities and local legal events that keep him connected to procedural developments and courtroom practice.

Based in Florida, he continues to serve clients through Barrister Law Office, P.A. He balances courtroom appearances with client counseling, and his practice concentrates on litigation in Florida courts and in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
