About Matthew

Matthew Daws built a career that moves quickly between courtroom and office. He began his legal studies at Texas Tech University School of Law, where his records list a law degree completed in 2009 and an LL.D. dated 2012. That academic foundation led him back to southeast Texas to begin practice and to join local bar activities.

His early career included a stint as an associate at Clay Dugas & Associates in 2012. A year later he opened his own practice and took on the title of managing lawyer at The Daws Law Office. Those first years running a small firm taught him both client work and the practical management of a legal business. He balances case preparation with supervision of staff and the operational decisions that keep a firm running.

Daws is admitted to practice in Texas and holds admissions that allow him to appear in the Fifth Circuit and before the United States Supreme Court. Those credentials shape the types of matters his office handles and allow the firm to pursue appeals when necessary. He is active in several professional and community organizations. Current memberships include the Better Business Bureau, the Jefferson County Bar Association, the Orange County Bar Association, the National Trial Lawyers, and a local Young Professional Organization that lists him among its Top 40 Under 40 members.

Colleagues describe him as pragmatic in court and straightforward with clients. He has experience handling matters that require both trial preparation and appellate strategy. Running a small, regional firm has also put him in contact with a wide range of procedural and client-service issues, and those encounters inform how the office approaches each file.

Outside the courthouse he participates in bar and civic groups, maintaining connections across county and state lines. Those memberships provide networking opportunities and keep him plugged into continuing legal education and local legal developments. He has used those forums to stay current on procedural changes and appellate practice in the Fifth Circuit.

Today he leads The Daws Law Office, PLLC, overseeing casework and the day-to-day operations of the firm. His practice focuses on litigation and related appellate work handled out of his firm in southeast Texas.
