About Matthew Damian Des

Matthew Damian Des Meules earned his J.D. from New England Law | Boston in 2006. He completed his legal education during a period of practical court exposure and academic clinic work. Those experiences shaped an entry into public and private legal roles soon after graduation.

He moved into a series of clerkships and externships that kept him close to courtrooms. In 2007 he served as a legal extern at the Hillsborough County Superior Court North in New Hampshire. The following year he held positions as a law clerk at the Massachusetts Appellate Tax Board and as a law clerk at the Department of Justice. In 2008 he also worked in the New England Law Boston Clinical Law Office as SJC Rule 3:03 counsel.

Before and during his legal training he worked in the financial services sector. In 2002 he was a loan delivery manager at Washington Mutual Bank, and in 2004 he worked in production and business development at Bank of America. Those early roles gave him practical insight into banking operations and the document flow that supports commercial lending.

In 2009 he became the managing lawyer at DesMeules & Associates. That role placed him in charge of the firm’s legal work and its day-to-day operations. The title reflects both supervisory responsibility and a continuing role in client matters.

Across public and private posts, Des Meules has been involved in trial-court settings, administrative hearings and appellate work. He has direct experience inside courthouses at the trial level, in administrative adjudications at the tax board, and in federal legal environments through his time at the Department of Justice. Those varied settings inform how he approaches procedural and evidentiary issues.

He is licensed to practice in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. His background combines courtroom exposure, administrative adjudication experience and firm management. He continues to lead DesMeules & Associates, and his practice centers on client representation, administrative and appellate matters, and the operational duties of running a small law office.
