About Matthew Charles
Matthew Charles Thomas is a seasoned immigration attorney based in Phoenix, Arizona. Since 2007, he has dedicated his career to immigration law, focusing primarily on family-based immigration, waivers of inadmissibility, consular processing, and removal defense. In 2012, he founded Thomas Law Firm, PLC, which specializes in these critical areas of immigration law. The firm has since become a trusted resource for individuals and families handling the requirements of the immigration system. Mr. Thomas earned both his Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Arts from Arizona State University. His interest in immigration law was sparked during his time as a Legal Representative for the ASU Immigration Law and Policy Clinic.
There, he represented detained juveniles in immigration proceedings, gaining inexperience and insight into the challenges faced by vulnerable populations. This formative experience laid the groundwork for his commitment to advocating for clients in difficult situations. Before establishing his own firm, Mr. Thomas worked at Littler Mendelson Global, where he focused exclusively on employment-based immigrant and non-immigrant visas, as well as adjustment of status. This role further developed his skills and understanding of the immigration process from a corporate perspective. He also co-founded Thomas & Jefferies, PLLC, an immigration law firm in Phoenix. That expand his practice and reach more clients in need of legal assistance.
His experience has made him one of the most sought-after immigration attorneys in the Phoenix area, particularly for waivers of inadmissibility. Mr. Thomas is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). He stays updated on changes in immigration law and policy. From 2011 to 2014, he served on the Phoenix Pride Board of Directors, demonstrating his commitment to community involvement and advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights. Mr. Thomas has also contributed to the legal community by presenting Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses on U visas for victims of crime, consular processing, and waivers of inadmissibility.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, he is dedicated to providing comprehensive legal services to individuals and families facing complex immigration and nationality issues.
