About Matthew Chadwick

Matthew Chadwick Autry combines study of public administration with a later turn to law. He earned a B.A. from East Carolina University in 2003, followed by a Master of Public Administration from Western Carolina University in 2008. He completed his legal education at Campbell Law School, receiving his J.D. in 2011.

After law school Mr. Autry entered practice in North Carolina. He is admitted to the North Carolina state courts and to the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts of North Carolina. Those admissions put him before trial courts at both the state and federal level.

His background in public administration informs how he approaches legal matters. The M.P.A. gave him a grounding in policy, agency procedure and public sector decision-making. That training often proves useful in cases that involve administrative records, regulatory frameworks or municipal issues.

Mr. Autry’s law degree and court admissions allowed him to work on matters that require litigation in district court. He developed practical courtroom experience and familiarity with federal procedure while appearing in the Eastern and Middle Districts. He also handles matters that proceed in the state trial courts of North Carolina.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing files and careful in courtroom presentation. He prepares pleadings, manages discovery and presents arguments in hearings. He pays attention to detail in written work and to timing in court settings.

Outside the courtroom he keeps up with developments in both state and federal practice. He looks for precedent and procedural developments that could affect clients’ positions. That keeps his work aligned with current case law and rules.

Today Matthew Chadwick Autry represents clients in matters brought in North Carolina courts and in the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts of North Carolina. He practices in state and federal courts in North Carolina, representing clients before trial-level courts in the Eastern and Middle Districts and in the state system.
