About Matt
Matt Maniatis studied criminology at the University of Oklahoma and finished his undergraduate degree in 2008. He went on to earn a J.D. from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2011. Law school came after years of interest in how criminal justice systems work, and he moved into practice soon after graduation.
He opened the Law Office of Matt Maniatis in 2011, starting out on his own immediately after law school. In 2013 he became a partner at Saenz & Maniatis, PLLC, where he handled a mix of criminal and immigration matters. In 2021 he launched Maniatis Law PLLC and returned to running his own firm, overseeing case strategy and day-to-day operations.
Maniatis is admitted to practice in Tennessee and appears in multiple federal venues. His jurisdictions include the U.S. Immigration Courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit and the 11th Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. He is a commissioned Notary Public in the State of Tennessee.
Professional memberships form a steady part of his career. He belongs to the Tennessee Bar Association and the Nashville Bar Association. He joined the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in 2012 and has been involved with the American Immigration Lawyers Association since 2012. He holds membership in the DUI Defense Lawyers Association as of 2022. Since 2012 he has volunteered with the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands, taking cases through that program.
Over the years Maniatis has represented clients in state courts, before immigration judges, and in federal proceedings. His matters have included criminal defense and DUI/DUID cases at the trial level, removal defense and related immigration hearings, and appellate work in federal circuit courts. He regularly handles motions, hearings, and trials, and advises clients on the interplay between criminal charges and immigration consequences.
At Maniatis Law PLLC he oversees client intake, litigation strategy, and court appearances. The firm handles a mix of criminal and immigration caseloads and represents individuals across state and federal venues. He practices through Maniatis Law PLLC and focuses on criminal defense, DUI/DUID cases, and immigration matters.
