About Matt

Matt Fakhoury built his path to law in classrooms and courtrooms. He earned a B.S. in Commerce from DePaul University in 2002. Three years later he graduated from Saint Louis University School of Law, completing a J.D. in 2005 with a concentration in Criminal Law and Trial Advocacy.

His early career moved quickly into public service. In 2006 he joined the Cook County State's Lawyer's Office as an assistant state’s lawyer, where he handled prosecutorial responsibilities. He spent time teaching soon after, serving as an adjunct professor at DePaul University in 2007. Those years blended courtroom work with classroom instruction.

In 2011 he shifted roles inside municipal government. That year he served as an administrative law judge for the City of Chicago’s Department of Administrative Hearings. Close familiarity with municipal procedures and the administrative hearing process grew from that post. The same year he opened his own practice, forming The Law Offices of Matthew M. Fakhoury, LLC.

Fakhoury’s training at Saint Louis University emphasized trial skills. His resume reflects that emphasis: prosecutorial work in Cook County, a stint as an administrative law judge, and time spent teaching at his alma mater’s city rival. He has experience on both sides of hearings and trials, and he has navigated stages from initial charging decisions through adjudication in administrative settings.

Memberships in professional organizations have been part of his career. He belongs to the Chicago Bar Association, the Arab-American Bar Association of Illinois, the Northwest Suburban Bar Association, and the Illinois State Bar Association. Those groups offer professional contacts and resources that inform everyday practice.

Colleagues and former students note that Fakhoury brings practical courtroom experience to his legal work. He balanced prosecutorial duties early on and later applied that perspective when presiding over administrative hearings. The combination gives him an unusual vantage point on procedural rules and evidentiary hearings.

Since founding his firm in 2011 he has run The Law Offices of Matthew M. Fakhoury, LLC. He is licensed to practice law in Illinois by the Supreme Court of Illinois. He now concentrates his practice on matters that draw on his trial and administrative hearing experience, representing clients in state and municipal proceedings.
