About Mathew

Mathew Higbee earned his Juris Doctor at the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah in 2005. He completed his legal studies after beginning law school in the early 2000s. The law degree provided the foundation for a practice based in California.

Higbee moved into practice shortly after graduating. Over the following years he built a career in the California bar, taking on courtroom work and case preparation. Colleagues describe him as methodical in his approach to evidence and persuasive in written submissions. He developed familiarity with both state and federal procedures through steady trial and appellate work.

Early in his career he handled a range of civil matters, often representing individual clients and small businesses. That period sharpened his skills in case strategy. He learned to weigh settlement options against the costs and uncertainties of litigation. He also gained experience in discovery management and motion practice, areas that now inform how he prepares cases from the outset.

Higbee’s practice evolved as he accrued years of litigation experience. He has written briefs, argued motions and tried cases to juries and judges. He also spent time working on appeals, which gave him a broader view of how trial decisions play out on review. These experiences contributed to a pragmatic courtroom style. He tends to prioritize clear themes and concise presentation of evidence.

Outside of formal court settings, Higbee has worked on client counseling, drafting contracts and advising on risk mitigation. He has balanced courtroom work with behind-the-scenes tasks that keep cases moving. That blend of roles has been a steady feature of his practice over the past two decades.

Now based in California, Higbee continues to practice law. He brings more than twenty years of legal training and courtroom exposure to his current work. He currently maintains a California practice that centers on civil litigation matters.
