About Masood
Masood Khan began his academic journey in Southern California, earning a B.A. from UCLA in 1997 before completing a Juris Doctor at the University of California, Davis School of Law in 2001 where he studied immigration and international law. Those formative years shaped his view of the law as a practical tool for people navigating complex cross-border issues and domestic immigration systems.
After law school, Khan entered private practice and public-facing work in areas that intersect national boundaries and human lives. He has spent more than two decades handling matters that range from family-based petitions and naturalization applications to asylum claims and removal defense. His practice has included advising employers on employment-based immigration and assisting clients with consular processing. He is accustomed to working with clients whose cases involve multiple legal systems and time-sensitive deadlines.
Khan’s work often requires translating dense legal rules into clear steps that clients can follow. He prepares petitions and briefs, represents clients before administrative officers, and engages with the procedural requirements of federal immigration agencies. The tasks are varied. Some days focus on document drafting and deadlines, other days on courtroom appearances and client interviews. He balances those demands through careful case management and attention to the practical implications of immigration decisions.
Colleagues and clients find that Khan approaches cases methodically. He evaluates evidence, considers statutory and regulatory avenues, and frames legal arguments that align with clients’ long-term goals. His background in international law informs how he handles cross-border components of immigration work—questions about travel history, foreign documents, and treaty-related issues come into play in several matters.
Outside of individual casework, Khan has engaged in the routine professional work that supports an immigration practice: preparing filings, monitoring changes to agency procedures, and advising on compliance for employers. He has worked with a range of clients, from individuals seeking family reunification to employers navigating workforce mobility. The tone of his practice is practical and detail-oriented, aimed at securing procedural relief and durable immigration outcomes.
Khan continues to practice law, applying his training in immigration and international law to the representation of clients before immigration agencies and courts. He currently concentrates his practice on immigration and international law matters.
