About Mary M.

Mary M. Taylor built a legal path that reflects two different academic worlds. She began with a business degree at Louisiana State University, earning a B.S. in Business (Finance) in 1978. A decade later she returned to school and completed a J.D. at Loyola University New Orleans in 1988, studying Civil Law under the curriculum Louisiana uses to shape its courts and practice.

That mix of finance and civil law has informed her work as a Louisiana lawyer. After law school she entered practice in the state and has continued to work there since. Her training at Loyola placed emphasis on the civil code and its applications, and she has applied that framework to client matters in both transactional and dispute contexts.

Taylor’s background in business gives her an angle that some litigators and transactional lawyers do not have. She reads financial statements and loan documents with an eye informed by formal training. She also brings an understanding of commercial relationships that can steer negotiations and settlement talks. Over the years she has handled matters that call for both legal analysis and practical business judgment.

At the Pontchartrain Law Center she practices alongside colleagues who serve private clients and local businesses. Her work includes advising on contracts, interpreting civil code provisions, and addressing business-related legal questions that arise from commercial operations. She approaches each file by parsing the relevant civil law doctrines and then assessing how those rules affect a client’s bottom line.

Outside the office she has maintained ties to the Louisiana legal community. She is licensed to practice in the state and participates in matters that are governed by Louisiana’s civil law tradition. That consistency—education in civil law, a business undergraduate degree, and steady practice in Louisiana—frames how she evaluates cases and counsels clients.

Today she practices at the Pontchartrain Law Center in Louisiana and concentrates on civil law and business finance matters.
