About Mary Christine

Mary Christine Ludwig trained as both a lawyer and a business professional. She holds a J.D. from Drake University Law School (2005), an M.B.A. from Drake University (2005) and a B.S. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1995). While at Drake Law she completed a certificate in Food and Agricultural Law. Those academic choices set the pattern for a career split between law and agricultural business.

Her early work blended farm management and banking. In 1995 she joined the State Bank of Chrisman as an assistant vice-president. A few years later she worked as a fieldman in farm business and farm management. Those roles gave her practical experience on the business side of agriculture, experience she later carried into legal practice.

Ludwig moved into law work in the early 2000s. She interned at Beving, Swanson & Forrest, P.C. in 2004. By 2005 she was listed as a partner at Dodd Ludwig Maatuka LLC, a role that indicates an early shift into private practice. In 2011 she joined Johnson & Taylor as a lawyer and partner. The sequence shows steady movement from hands-on agricultural roles to legal practice and firm leadership.

Her credentials include coursework and a certificate in food and agricultural law from Drake. That training pairs with her earlier agricultural economics degree and farm management experience. It informs how she advises clients on matters where farm operations, agricultural finance and regulatory requirements intersect. She is admitted to practice in Illinois.

Colleagues describe her as methodical and practical in handling complex fact patterns. Clients have sought her out for matters that combine technical agricultural issues and business law. She has handled transactional and advisory work, drawing on both her banking background and legal training.

Today she is a partner at Johnson & Taylor. Her practice centers on agricultural and food law matters and related business issues, handled from the firm's Illinois office.
