About Martin G Murphy
Martin G Murphy Jr earned his law degree from Rutgers School of Law–Camden, receiving his J.D. in 2010. He moved into practice after law school and built experience in state courtrooms and in client counseling. Early training at a regional law school set the stage for a practice that would span more than one jurisdiction.
He is admitted to practice in both New Jersey and South Carolina. Those dual admissions have allowed him to work on matters that cross state lines and to serve clients who relocate or maintain ties in both states. He joined the Charleston and Dorchester County bar associations in 2017, the same year he began an associate role at a local family law firm.
From 2017 he worked as an associate lawyer at Lowcountry Divorce & Family Law, LLC. There he handled divorce proceedings, child custody disputes and the routine litigation that accompanies family law cases. The work involved regular appearances in family court and negotiation of settlements, along with drafting pleadings and motions.
Murphy moved into private practice in 2022 when he formed The Law Office of Martin G. Murphy Jr., LLC. Around the same time he took on a role on the Berkeley County Bar Association board, a position he continues to hold. He is also a member of the South Carolina Bar and remains active in county-level associations in Charleston and Dorchester. Those memberships keep him connected to the local bench and bar.
Colleagues describe him as steady in court and straightforward with clients. He tends to take on hands-on case work and to handle the procedural details himself. That approach means he often meets clients early and stays involved through trial or settlement. He has experience moving cases from initial filing to final disposition.
Today he runs his own practice in South Carolina. The office handles family law matters and related civil issues for individuals and families. He maintains bar memberships and serves on a county bar board while managing a small law office in the Lowcountry.
