About Martin

Martin Crim earned his J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law in 1991. He completed his legal training at a time when many local governments were expanding their administrative programs. The degree set the stage for a career that blends practice and community involvement.

He practices law at Vanderpool, Frostick & Nishanian, P.C. There he engages on matters that often intersect with municipal operations and public services. His work brings together statutory interpretation, administrative procedures, and counsel to public entities and organizations that operate in the civic sphere.

Crim has been active in the Local Government Lawyers of Virginia Practice Group for Social Services since 2013 and has served as the group’s chair. In that role he has led meetings, coordinated discussion among attorneys from different localities, and helped shape agendas for topics of interest to lawyers who advise social services agencies. The chair position places him regularly in contact with counsel to local governments, social services administrators, and policy professionals.

Since 2013 he has also served on the board of directors for the Matthews Center for Visual Learning. That board role involves governance responsibilities and participation in strategic conversations about the organization’s programs. Earlier in his public service involvement he chaired the Manassas Community and Policy Management Team from 1995 to 1999, a post that connected him to local planning and program coordination efforts.

Across his roles, Crim combines practice on behalf of clients at a regional law firm with steady participation in professional groups and nonprofit governance. He appears at meetings and panels, contributes to internal practice discussions, and assists public officials and boards that require legal guidance on administrative and regulatory questions. He is known among peers for an emphasis on practical problem solving and clear legal analysis rather than theory alone.

He remains based at Vanderpool, Frostick & Nishanian, P.C., where he balances client work and association duties. His current practice centers on municipal law and legal issues affecting social services and public agencies.
