About Martha J.
Martha J. Hartney began her professional life on a different page. She earned a B.A. in Journalism and Public Relations from the University of Memphis in 1988, then returned to school and received a J.D. from the University of Denver in 2009. That combination of reporting skills and legal training shaped a career that crosses both advocacy and practice development.
She opened Hartney Law, LLC in 2010. The firm grew out of a desire to handle matters that require careful listening and clear explanation. In 2012 she took on a role as an estate planning mentor with Law Business Mentors, helping other lawyers develop systems for client intake and document preparation. Her work as a mentor reflects an interest in the practical side of running a law practice as much as in the substantive law itself.
In 2017 Hartney expanded into business ownership. She is listed as Owner and CEO of CHERP, LLC and as Owner and CVO of KLADOS, LLC. Those ventures run alongside her continuing legal practice. She also holds a Child & Family Investigator certification from the Colorado Bar Association, a credential used in certain family law and child-related proceedings where fact-finding and neutral investigation are required.
Hartney is active in professional circles. She has been a member of the American Bar Association since 2009 and joined the Boulder Bar Association in 2010. Both memberships have coincided with her Colorado practice. Over the years she has balanced private practice responsibilities with mentoring other lawyers and developing business interests that support her legal work.
Her work combines estate planning, family-related investigations and the nuts-and-bolts aspects of running a small law firm and related companies. She practices in Colorado and maintains her law office through Hartney Law, LLC. Her current practice concentrates on estate planning, family matters and related investigations.
