About Marte Joseph

Marte Joseph Bassi is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1987. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Bassi is a partner at Bassi Edlin Huie & Blum LLP, a law firm located in San Francisco, California. He has been practicing law for over 38 years, serving clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

Mr. Bassi earned his Juris Doctor degree from Golden Gate University School of Law in 1987, graduating with highest honors. During his time at Golden Gate, he was a writer and editor on the law review and earned American Jurisprudence awards for Evidence, Real Property, and Ethics. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at San Francisco State University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics in 1974.

Mr. Bassi concentrates his practice in the areas of product liability, toxic torts, and business litigation. He has extensive experience handling complex commercial cases, including the first living mesothelioma "off-the-premises" case. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.

Throughout his career, Mr. Bassi has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of San Francisco, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to joining Bassi Edlin Huie & Blum LLP, he worked as an associate at Pillsbury Madison & Sutro for 12 years and clerked in the San Francisco Superior Court Law and Motion Department for the Honorable Lucy Kelly McCabe and the Honorable Raymond Williamson.

Mr. Bassi is an active member of the California State Bar Association. He has been recognized multiple times as a Northern California Super Lawyer and a Top Northern California Litigation Attorney. He is also a third-generation San Franciscan and attended Saint Ignatius College Preparatory. Mr. Bassi is fluent in English and has a working knowledge of Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of the San Francisco Bay Area effectively.
