About Marshall Jason
Marshall Jason Ray studied language before he studied law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics from Brigham Young University in 2005 and continued his legal education at the University of New Mexico, receiving his J.D. in 2008. Those academic years shaped an analytical approach to problems that often involve complex facts and communications.
After law school he moved into practice in the Southwest. He is admitted to the bars of New Mexico and Arizona and is authorized to appear in the Tenth Circuit. That mix of state and federal admissions allows him to handle matters across different tribunals. He has maintained an active connection to the legal community in New Mexico while also taking on matters that touch neighboring jurisdictions.
Ray has been involved in the State Bar of New Mexico’s Labor and Employment Section for years. He served as chair in 2017 and continues to sit on the section’s Board of Directors. That role has put him in the middle of conversations about workplace rules, regulatory developments and professional standards among employment practitioners in the state.
In practice he handles labor and employment matters that require both courtroom and advisory work. He represents clients in disputes, and prepares legal analyses and responses on employment-related issues. He appears in state and federal forums and has experience addressing procedural and substantive questions that arise in labor and employment litigation.
Colleagues and peers know him for steady participation in bar activities and for staying current on developments that affect employers and employees. He maintains memberships in professional organizations and engages with peers through the State Bar’s section work. That engagement informs his daily practice and keeps him connected to evolving standards and precedents.
He is based in the Southwest and divides his time among matters in New Mexico, Arizona and federal matters in the Tenth Circuit. He handles litigation, counseling and regulatory matters arising from workplace disputes. He currently practices labor and employment law.
