About Mark S.
Mark S. Edelstein earned a B.A. from the City College of New York in 1979 and a J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University in 1982. Those credentials placed him in the New York legal community at a time of shifting markets and growing regulatory complexity. He entered practice equipped with a foundation in the law and decades of subsequent experience.
He has practiced in New York for many years and is admitted to the State Bar of New York. Over the course of his career he rose through the ranks of private practice and became a partner at Morrison & Foerster LLP. That role has involved both client work and responsibilities inside the firm, typical of long-standing partners at large national firms.
Colleagues describe his work style as steady and methodical. He has overseen teams of associates and coordinated multidisciplinary efforts on matters that require input from multiple parts of a firm. He is also known for the kind of case management that keeps large matters organized and on track. Those are practical skills that partners rely on when firms handle demanding client engagements.
Edelstein’s background combines classroom training from Cardozo with years of practice. He graduated law school in the early 1980s and has maintained a career in private practice since then. That span of time has given him a perspective on how legal practice and client expectations have changed, especially in major commercial centers such as New York.
Outside the office he has participated in the professional life of the firm. As partner he has taken part in mentoring younger lawyers and shaping the operational side of casework. His contributions have been centered on effective team leadership and ensuring continuity on long-running matters—tasks that are less visible than courtroom victories but essential to a firm’s functioning.
He currently practices at Morrison & Foerster LLP and maintains a New York-based practice.
