About Mark Reel
Mark Reel Jr blends a background in sports management and business with a later move into family law. He earned a J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2017 after completing graduate work in sports administration and sport marketing. Early academic stops include Valparaiso University, Indiana University Bloomington and Ancilla College, where he built a foundation in business and sports administration that shaped his early career choices.
His career before law was rooted in sports and fitness. He worked in baseball operations for the Los Angeles Angels and took on internships in group sales with the Midland RockHounds. He founded Diamond Play Tournaments LLC in 2012, organizing amateur baseball events. In the years following law school he held multiple management positions at 24 Hour Fitness, moving from sales advisor roles into sales management and general management by 2019.
Reel’s transition into law produced an unusual combination of skills: courtroom training backed by hands-on experience running teams and small businesses. He launched Reel Fathers Rights APC in 2021 and serves as its founder and chief executive officer. Around the same time he began hosting State of the Family Courts, a program linked to the fathers’ rights movement that examines custody disputes, parental rights and family court processes.
Those activities reflect the legal interests that inform his practice. He represents men in family law matters, focusing on issues that commonly arise in custody and parental rights disputes. He draws on his background in management and athletics to organize case strategy and to prepare clients for the procedural and emotional demands of family litigation.
Colleagues describe Reel as methodical in preparing cases and direct in court. He is based in California and is licensed to practice there. His office operates under the Reel Fathers Rights APC name, where he leads a small team that handles client intake, case preparation and courtroom representation.
Outside the office, he has remained engaged with community events tied to youth sports and fathers’ groups. He continues to produce and host programming aimed at demystifying family court procedures for lay audiences. He maintains his practice in California and focuses on representing clients in family law and fathers’ rights matters.
