About Mark David

Mark David Nusz built a layered academic foundation before entering practice. He earned a B.S. in Business Finance from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1998, followed by an MBA in Entrepreneurial Business from the University of Colorado Denver in 2006. He returned to law school at Arizona State University's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2015 and a certification in Law, Science, and Technology. He completed an LL.M. in Taxation and Estate Planning at the University of Washington School of Law in 2017.

Those credentials led him into a practice that combines business, tax and bankruptcy matters. He serves as the principal lawyer at Westward LAW pllc, where he handles a range of matters touching personal and small-business financial distress as well as tax and estate concerns. Colleagues describe an approach that pairs business training with formal tax study, aiming to align legal advice with clients’ financial realities.

Nusz’s bar and professional affiliations reflect that mix. He is admitted to practice in Washington and maintains membership in local bar groups, including the Skagit County Bar Association and the Snohomish County Bar Association. He also belongs to the Federal Bar for the Western District of Washington and is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute. Since 2017 he has been admitted to the bar of the U.S. Tax Court and a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Lawyers.

The LL.M. in taxation informs much of his work. That advanced study emphasized tax consequences for estates and reorganizations. It supplements the J.D. training he received at Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law and his earlier business degrees. The result is a practice that considers both the legal and tax implications of transactions, bankruptcies and estate decisions.

In court and at the negotiating table he handles matters that often overlap disciplines: consumer bankruptcy filings, creditor-debtor issues, tax disputes and estate planning questions that have tax consequences. His professional memberships keep him plugged into national and regional developments in bankruptcy and tax practice.

Nusz maintains an office under the Westward Law PLLC name, including a Skagit County location. He draws on his combined legal and business background when advising clients on bankruptcy, tax and estate issues, and on the options available to individuals and small businesses facing financial difficulty. He currently concentrates his practice on bankruptcy, tax and related consumer-debtor matters.
