About Mark D.

Mark D. Keyl built the foundations of his career in two different institutions. He graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy with a B.S. in Government, then earned his J.D. from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 1984. Those steps set a steady course toward a long engagement with law and dispute resolution.

After law school he entered the legal profession. Over the years he worked in roles that exposed him to contested matters, negotiated settlements and the procedural mechanics of courts and tribunals. The experience informed how he approaches disputes: practical, process-minded and attentive to the mechanics that shape outcomes.

His practice shifted toward alternative dispute resolution. He took the skills learned in litigation and applied them in mediation and arbitration settings. That shift reflected an interest in helping parties resolve matters outside the courtroom and in shaping procedures that keep complex matters on track.

In the years since his 1984 graduation, he has accumulated more than four decades of involvement in the legal field. That span encompasses work on both sides of contested matters and time spent serving as a neutral in dispute resolution. He has dealt with cases that require careful preparation, tight time management and clear communication among counsel and clients.

He now operates Keyl ADR Services, LLC. Through that practice he serves as a mediator and arbitrator and accepts appointments as a neutral. His approach to sessions is straightforward. He lays out procedures clearly, sets realistic time frames and encourages parties to identify practical resolutions where possible.

Colleagues and participants in his proceedings describe him as steady and procedural. He tends to concentrate on the facts that matter and to keep participants moving toward resolution. He favors clarity in communications and a structured process over theatrical presentations.

Outside of hearing rooms he draws on his earlier academic training in government and the disciplined environment of the Coast Guard Academy. That background shows up in how he manages logistics and rules of engagement during multi-party or technical disputes. He continues to accept engagements through Keyl ADR Services, LLC and handles mediations, arbitrations and related neutral assignments as part of his current practice focus.
