Mark Curtis Shumar was admitted to the California State Bar in 1990, holding. His license status is currently resigned, effective September 20, 2024. Prior to his resignation, he was the principal attorney at the Law Offices of Mark C. Shumar, located at 1601 I Street, Suite 350, Modesto, California. Throughout his legal career, Mr. Shumar represented clients in various areas, including business law, personal injury, and products liability. His practice encompassed all stages of litigation, from initial case evaluation to trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Mr. Shumar earned his Bachelor’s Degree from California State University, Sacramento, and his Juris Doctorate from Willamette University College of Law. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1990, the same year he graduated from law school. Early in his career, he represented insurance companies, defending cases against individuals injured in accidents. After four years, he established his own firm, focusing on personal injury cases, including vehicular injuries, dog bites, brain injuries, medical malpractice, and wrongful death.
Over his 34-year career, Mr. Shumar handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Stanislaus, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. His extensive experience in litigation, appeals, negotiations, and trials allowed him to effectively represent clients in complex legal matters.
Mr. Shumar was an active member of the California State Bar Association, maintaining his membership from 1990 until his resignation in 2024. He was also a member of the Stanislaus County Bar Association. Throughout his career, he was committed to providing legal services to the Modesto community and surrounding areas.
