About Mark A.

Mark A. Kistler built his legal foundation at the University of Kansas. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in psychology in 1986 and returned to earn his J.D. in 1995. Those years in Lawrence set the stage for a career that has combined courtroom work and firm-side practice across multiple jurisdictions.

Early in his career he joined Blake & Uhlig, P.A. as an associate in 1997. Two years later he moved into a shareholder role at Arnold, Newbold, Winter & Jackson, P.C., a position he took in 1999. The shift from associate to shareholder came quickly and gave him hands-on experience in managing cases and working with clients across a range of matters.

In 2008 Kistler took on the title of counsel at Schlichter, Bogard & Denton. The role expanded his exposure to federal courtroom practice. Over time he has gained admissions that allow him to appear in several federal courts and appellate panels. He is authorized to practice in Kansas and Missouri, and he holds admissions to the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas and the Western District of Missouri, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. He also has appellate admissions that include the 10th Circuit and the 4th Circuit.

Those courtroom credentials reflect steady work in both state and federal systems. Colleagues who have worked alongside him describe a lawyer who handles procedural complexity and case management directly. He has experience shepherding matters from initial filings through briefing and appearances, and he has navigated multi-jurisdictional issues that arise when cases cross state lines or move into federal court.

Kistler’s background in psychology and law gives him a distinct perspective on client interactions and case strategy. He combines that academic background with years of practical experience inside law firms where responsibilities included case preparation, courtroom appearances, and collaborative work among legal teams. His résumé shows a progression of roles that brought increasing responsibility.

Now several decades into his legal career, Kistler continues to practice in the states and federal courts where he holds admission. He maintains an active practice in Kansas and Missouri and appears in the federal courts and circuits to which he is admitted.
