He was admitted to the California State Bar on June 1, 2007,. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Cionca is the founder and principal attorney at CIONCA IP Law P.C., an intellectual property law firm based in Irvine, California. The firm specializes in patents, trademarks, copyrights, and IP enforcement and defense, serving clients throughout the United States and internationally.
Mr. Cionca earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Concord Law School in 2006. Prior to his legal education, he obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Engineering from the University of Transilvania in 1991. His engineering background provides a solid foundation for his practice in intellectual property law, particularly in areas involving complex technical subjects.
Mr. Cionca's practice areas encompass patent and trademark prosecution, IP litigation, licensing, and enforcement. He assists clients in various industries, including engineering, computer technology, software, mechanical and medical devices, and consumer goods. His work involves all stages of legal proceedings, from initial consultations and application filings to litigation and appeals, ensuring comprehensive support for his clients' intellectual property needs.
With over 16 years of experience, Mr. Cionca has represented clients in numerous federal courts, including the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. He has also appeared before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) in various proceedings. Before founding CIONCA IP Law P.C. in 2009, he worked for an Orange County law firm, where he litigated several civil cases, including patent and trademark disputes.
Mr. Cionca is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Orange County Bar Association's Intellectual Property Law Section, where he has served as Co-Chair, and the Orange County Intellectual Property Law Association (OCIPLA), where he has held the position of President. He is also a member of the California Law Association's Intellectual Property Law Section. In addition to his professional affiliations, Mr. Cionca is fluent in English and Romanian, enabling him to serve a diverse clientele effectively.
