About Mariel
Mariel Smith earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 2007. She moved to Georgia early in her career and built experience in both courtroom and corporate settings. Her legal training began in a judicial chambers and expanded into public prosecution, private practice and corporate counsel work.
She started as a judicial law clerk in the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit in 2008. That role introduced her to courtroom procedure and the drafting of legal opinions. In 2011 she served as an assistant district lawyer in the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit, where she handled a range of state charges and courtroom appearances. That same year she is listed as a lawyer at Hall Booth Smith, P.C., an experience that added private practice responsibilities to her résumé.
In 2013 Smith took the bench as an associate magistrate judge for the Magistrate Court of Muscogee County, Georgia. In that position she presided over preliminary hearings, small claims matters and other proceedings that come before magistrate courts. The job required frequent written rulings and managing dockets, giving her sustained judicial experience at the county level.
She moved back into the corporate world in 2017 when she became general counsel at Masterbuilt Manufacturing, LLC. In that role she managed legal issues for a manufacturing business, including contract review, compliance matters and risk assessment. The general counsel post broadened her perspective on how legal strategy intersects with business operations.
Smith’s career shows a sequence of public and private roles rather than a single path. She has worked inside courtrooms, in a prosecutor’s office, in private practice, on the bench and in-house for a manufacturing company. Those stops have produced practical knowledge of state court procedures and of corporate legal work. She is currently associated with Hall Booth Smith, P.C., and she practices law in Georgia. Her current practice focuses on state-court litigation and corporate counsel matters in Georgia.
