About Margaret L.

Margaret L. Cook built her legal foundation at the University of Tulsa College of Law, where she earned her J.D. in 2012. While in law school she concentrated on family law, disability, trusts and wills, and non-profit law. Those course choices have shaped the shape of her practice and the types of clients she serves.

She began practicing after graduation and has developed experience across courtroom and administrative settings. Cook is admitted to practice in Oklahoma, before the Federal Circuit, and in the Cherokee Nation Tribal Court. Those admissions allow her to work on a range of matters that involve state, federal and tribal law considerations.

Her work spans family law matters, disability advocacy, estate planning and the legal needs of non-profit organizations. She handles divorce and custody cases as well as drafting and administering wills and trusts. In disability-related matters she has dealt with benefits and administrative appeals. For non-profits she addresses formation, governance and compliance questions. She represents individual clients and small organizations, and her practice often requires attention to procedural rules across different jurisdictions.

Cook maintains professional ties through memberships in the American Bar Association and the International Association of Professional Women. She participates in those groups to stay current on developments in her core areas of practice and to connect with colleagues who work in adjacent fields. Her memberships reflect a continuing engagement with the broader legal community rather than a single professional pursuit.

Her day-to-day work involves a mix of negotiated settlements, document drafting and contested proceedings. She prepares estate plans, assists clients pursuing disability benefits, and litigates family law disputes when necessary. The combination of state, federal and tribal admissions means she routinely considers how different bodies of law interact, and she advises clients about the practical consequences of those overlaps.

Cook practices from M. Cook Law. She represents clients in both advisory and advocacy roles, balancing courtroom appearances with the paperwork and planning that prevent future disputes. Her current practice focuses on family law, disability matters, trusts and wills, and legal services for non-profit entities.
