About Mara R.P.
Mara R.P. Hatfield built a steady academic foundation before entering the bar. She earned her Juris Doctor from Vermont Law School in 2005 after completing a Master of Arts at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 2000. Her undergraduate degree came from Knox College in 1997. Those years framed an early interest in law and public service and provided a mix of legal training and broader liberal arts study.
Her professional path led her to Florida, where she has worked as a personal injury lawyer. In 2012 she joined Searcy Denney Scarola Barnhart & Shipley, P.A., bringing her legal training into hands-on advocacy for people injured in accidents. That move placed her inside a firm environment where individual client representation and courtroom work are both common.
Hatfield’s practice centers on personal injury matters. She represents clients who seek compensation after accidents and other incidents that cause injury. The work requires assembling medical records, consulting experts, managing discovery and presenting claims to insurers. It also requires negotiating settlements and, when necessary, preparing cases for trial.
Clients and colleagues describe a lawyer who pays attention to detail and to procedural demands. The pace of injury litigation can be brisk, with deadlines for filings and hearings that shape case strategy. Hatfield’s background includes handling those routines. She has guided cases from initial intake through resolution, balancing litigation tasks with client communication.
Being licensed in Florida anchors her practice. The jurisdictional focus means she is familiar with state statutes that affect compensation, as well as local court procedures. That local knowledge matters in scheduling hearings, deposing witnesses and drafting pleadings so they respond to judges’ expectations.
Outside of the courtroom, her academic credentials remain part of her professional identity. A law degree from Vermont Law School and a master’s from Southern Illinois offer both doctrinal depth and practical training that feed into case preparation and legal analysis. Earlier undergraduate work at Knox College contributed to a wider analytical perspective.
Hatfield continues to practice at Searcy Denney Scarola Barnhart & Shipley, P.A. in Florida. Her current work involves representing injured individuals and pursuing recovery for medical expenses, lost income and other damages arising from personal injury incidents.
