About MacKenzie Alexander

MacKenzie Alexander Dunham built a path to law on a foundation in history and political science. She completed a B.A. at the University of North Texas in 2013 after beginning studies in 2010. She then enrolled at the University of Houston Law Center and received her J.D. in 2017. Those years of study shaped a practical approach to legal problems and a steady interest in how rules affect everyday lives.

Early in her legal training Dunham took on courtroom and office work that exposed her to the routines of practice. She worked as a law clerk for Michael Whitten and Associates in 2011, gaining hands-on experience in client intake and case preparation. In 2015 she served as a senior law clerk with Blackwell & Haag, where she took on greater responsibility for research and drafting. Those formative roles gave her a clear view of how litigation, negotiation and client counseling intersect.

Upon finishing law school she moved into leadership and service roles. In 2017 Dunham became executive director and staff lawyer at Access Justice Houston. In that role she balanced administrative management with direct casework. She supervised operations while continuing to represent clients and manage legal projects. The position put her in regular contact with community organizations and other providers of legal services.

Dunham’s professional memberships reflect a practice oriented toward family law and public-service networks. She has been a member of the Houston Bar Association Family Law Section since 2018. She has also held memberships in the Houston Bar Association since 2017, the Texas Bar College since 2017, and the Texas Lawyers Group since 2017. These affiliations keep her connected to ongoing developments in local court rules and practice norms.

Her career has been rooted in the Texas legal environment. She is licensed to practice in Texas and has focused her work on matters that often arise in family court and in community-based legal assistance. Her experience spans hands-on client work, supervisory duties and collaboration with other legal service providers. She brings an orderly, pragmatic style to both litigation and case management.

Dunham continues to practice in Texas, where she handles family law and access-to-justice matters in both direct representation and organizational roles.
