About Maaz
Maaz Asif moved from a business degree into the law. He completed a Bachelor of Commerce at Queens University in Kingston, Ontario in 2017. That undergraduate grounding in markets and accounting preceded his legal studies at The University of Texas School of Law, where he earned a J.D. in 2022. His academic path mixes Canadian commerce training and American legal education.
After law school, Asif began working in Texas. He is admitted to practice in that jurisdiction and has built his work around the legal landscape of the state. Early in his career he combined classroom training with practical assignments that exposed him to transactional matters and regulatory questions. The transition from a commerce program to a US law school gives him a cross-border perspective on business issues.
Asif’s practical experience has involved advising on business-related legal problems and responding to disputes that arise out of commercial relationships. He has handled drafting, review, and negotiation tasks that draw on his undergraduate training in commerce. He has also worked on compliance questions that require attention to both statutory detail and practical business realities. He approaches problems in a step-by-step manner. He focuses on clarity in documents and direct communication with clients.
Colleagues describe him as methodical and attentive to detail. He spends time analyzing contracts, financial terms, and regulatory language so that clients see the risks and options laid out plainly. He is comfortable working across teams, coordinating with accountants and other professionals when matters call for technical financial input.
Outside of casework, Asif has maintained ties to academic study, keeping up with developments that affect businesses operating in Texas. He reads court decisions and regulatory updates closely. That habit helps him flag practical impacts for clients and to anticipate where legal questions may move next.
Today Asif practices law in Texas, applying his combined business and legal education to commercial and corporate matters. He concentrates on work that sits at the intersection of business and law and on helping clients understand practical legal choices in commercial contexts.
