M James Faison combines an Ivy League undergraduate education with a law degree from one of the nation's older law schools. He earned a B.A. from Harvard University and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. Those academic credentials set the stage for a practice that moves between corporate counsel work and business-side roles.
He began his legal career as an associate at White & Case LLP in 2009. That early experience exposed him to large-firm transactional work and cross-border matters. A few years later he took on a leadership role at Milton's Local, serving as president in 2012, an experience that added hands-on operational and management responsibilities to his legal background.
Faison has alternated between in-house and external counsel positions. In 2015 he served as external legal counsel to the online retailer Boxed.com. He moved into a business development role in 2019 as vice president of business development for the Partnership for a Healthier America. The following year he acted as external general counsel to Blacktag Inc., blending legal advice with commercial decision-making.
In 2021 he became managing partner of Faison Law Group. That role places him at the intersection of practice management and client work. He oversees firm operations while continuing to advise clients on transactional and corporate matters. His practice reflects a mix of start-up, e-commerce, and traditional corporate engagements.
