About M. Carter
M. Carter Borman earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia in 1997 and graduated from William & Mary Marshall-Wythe School of Law with a J.D. in 2001. He came of age academically in Virginia, moving from a broad liberal arts education into professional legal training. Those formative years gave him a firm grasp of legal doctrine and courtroom procedure.
After law school, Borman entered private practice. He has spent his career practicing law in a range of matters that require both courtroom advocacy and careful client counseling. Early on he developed routines familiar to many litigators: preparing pleadings, managing discovery, arguing motions, and appearing at hearings. Over time he added negotiation and transactional drafting to that mix.
Borman’s approach is steady and pragmatic. He divides his time between representing clients in contested matters and advising them on risk and strategy outside the courtroom. He favors clear explanations. He seeks practical solutions that resolve disputes without unnecessary expense. When cases require a trial, he prepares them for court; when they do not, he pursues resolutions that preserve clients’ interests.
In his work he interacts with judges, opposing counsel, and clients from varied backgrounds. He describes the day-to-day work as a blend of legal research, written advocacy, and direct client contact. That combination keeps the practice varied. It also demands attention to detail and an ability to translate legal concepts into plain language.
Borman is currently associated with The Bell Law Office, PLLC. At that firm he handles matters brought by individuals and by small organizations. His role includes case assessment, negotiating settlements, drafting legal documents, and representing clients at hearings. He aims to provide straightforward guidance so clients can make informed choices.
Outside of client work, he values mentoring less-experienced lawyers and sharpening his own skills through continuing legal education. He tends to favor practical training that improves courtroom technique and case management.
Today, M. Carter Borman continues to practice at The Bell Law Office, PLLC, concentrating on client representation, negotiation, and legal counseling in state and local matters.
