About Lynne S.
Lynne S. Hilowitz graduated from the City University of New York, Queens College in 1977 with a bachelor’s degree in political science and special honors in the humanities. She completed her law degree the same year at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. Those formative years, split between a liberal-arts undergraduate program and the rigors of law school, set a steady course for a long legal career.
Early in that career she helped establish a law practice that remains active decades later. In 1981 she became a partner in what is now DaSilva, Hilowitz & McEvily LLP, a firm operating offices in New City and Garden City, New York. That partnership followed the usual climb through associate work and client development, and it marked her transition into firm leadership.
She is admitted to practice in Florida, New Jersey and New York. That multi-jurisdictional admission reflects a practice shaped by cross-border matters and by clients whose needs extend beyond a single state. Over the years she has handled matters that required coordination across different courts and regulatory environments, and she has worked alongside colleagues to manage those logistical and legal complexities.
Colleagues describe her as steady and methodical. She has spent years cultivating a practical approach to problem solving. In the office she balances client meetings, drafting and negotiation, and courtroom appearances when they are necessary. Her role at the firm has included mentoring newer lawyers and helping to shape office processes, tasks that keep long-established firms functioning smoothly as they adapt to new rules and technologies.
Outside the courtroom she has stayed connected to the legal community in the region. Maintaining licenses in three states has required periodic study and attention to changing law. That effort has allowed her to represent clients whose matters cross state lines and to advise on jurisdictional issues that sometimes determine a case’s path.
In 2026 she continues as a partner at DaSilva, Hilowitz & McEvily LLP, working from the firm’s New City and Garden City offices and advising clients across the jurisdictions in which she is licensed. Her current practice centers on serving individual and business clients through the firm’s New York offices.
