About Lydia C.

Lydia C. Stoney earned her J.D. from Campbell Law School in 2020. She moved into practice soon after graduating and built a practice centered on bankruptcy and insolvency matters. Her legal training at Campbell introduced her to commercial restructuring and litigation, and those interests have shaped her early career.

She is licensed to practice in North Carolina and in the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of North Carolina. Those admissions allow her to handle matters that cross both state and federal forums. She has worked on cases filed in federal court and on issues that commonly arise in insolvency proceedings.

In 2023 Stoney joined Hendren Redwine & Malone, PLLC as a lawyer. At the firm she works on bankruptcy, restructuring and related litigation. Her role involves representing clients through contested matters and routine bankruptcy procedures. Colleagues describe her as methodical in preparing cases and clear in courtroom presentations.

Her professional affiliations reflect the bankruptcy emphasis of her work. She holds memberships in the International Women's Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC) and the American Bankruptcy Institute. She also belongs to the North Carolina Bar Association and the Wake County Bar Association. Those associations provide continuing education and a forum for practitioners to discuss evolving issues in insolvency law.

Clients and other lawyers encounter Stoney in both transactional and adversarial settings. She assists parties in negotiating restructuring plans and in resolving disputes that arise during bankruptcy cases. In court she handles filings, motions and hearings that accompany reorganization and liquidation matters. Her practice regularly engages federal court procedures because many bankruptcy matters ultimately touch federal jurisdiction.

Outside the courtroom she keeps current through association programs and local bar events. She participates in bar-led education on bankruptcy law and follows developments that affect bankruptcy practice in North Carolina. Her approach to cases is straightforward: identify the legal issues, map the procedural steps, and present a clear argument to the court or opposing parties.

She currently represents clients in bankruptcy, insolvency and related litigation at Hendren Redwine & Malone, PLLC.
