About Luis Alan
Luis Alan Trevino trained for a career in law at Milligan College and Liberty University School of Law. He earned a B.A. in political science from Milligan in 2015. He completed his J.D. at Liberty University School of Law in 2018. Those years set the course for early work in public-interest practice.
After law school he moved into direct-service legal work. In 2019 he joined Family Violence Prevention Services, Inc. as a staff lawyer. The role placed him in frequent contact with clients facing immediate safety and legal challenges. He handled matters that required quick legal responses and close coordination with advocates and community agencies.
Trevino’s work centers on family violence and the civil legal tools available to people affected by it. He has experience preparing petitions, seeking protective orders, and explaining legal options to people in crisis. His daily work combines courtroom filings with on-the-ground advocacy. He often spends as much time explaining procedures and options as he does drafting documents.
He practices in Texas and in that capacity has navigated local court systems and procedures. The work demands attention to detail and an ability to move quickly when safety concerns arise. He has developed an approach that balances legal strategy with practical measures aimed at client safety.
Colleagues describe him as steady in high-pressure settings. He works alongside social service providers and law-enforcement partners. That collaboration shapes case planning and helps address clients’ immediate needs beyond the courtroom.
Outside of direct client representation, Trevino has been involved in the operational side of nonprofit legal services. The staff lawyer position required routine docket management and participation in intake and screening processes. Those responsibilities gave him practical experience in running a small legal program and in the administrative tasks that keep client services moving.
In 2026 he remains with Family Violence Prevention Services, Inc. He continues to represent clients affected by family violence and to support the organization’s mission through legal advocacy, courtroom work, and coordination with community partners. He practices in Texas on matters related to family violence and protective legal remedies.
