About Luis A.
Luis A. Aviles has a background in both science and law. He earned a B.S. in Physics from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez in 1980 and an M.A. in Physics from Harvard University in 1984. He later turned to law, completing a J.D. at Harvard Law School in the early 1990s and an LL.M. in European Law at Universite Panthéon-Assas (Paris II) in 2010. The combination of technical training and advanced legal study suggests a career shaped by varied intellectual interests.
Public service has been a recurring thread in Aviles’s profile. In 2005 he served as President of the Board of Governors of the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority.
