About Lucas

Lucas Buzzard graduated from American University Washington College of Law in 2010 after earning his bachelor’s degree from Drew University in 2003. He moved through the judicial internship pipeline while in law school, serving in 2008 for the Hon. Reggie B. Walton at the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and in 2009 for the Hon. Blackburne-Rigsby at the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. Those early court placements gave him direct exposure to both trial and appellate processes.

He spent 2010 at the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, where he served as a judicial law clerk and staff lawyer. That year in the appellate environment shaped his approach to legal writing and to the mechanics of appeals. After his clerkship he moved into private practice and, by 2015, joined Joseph & Kirschenbaum LLP. At the firm he has handled matters that require appearances in state and federal forums.

Buzzard is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey. He also holds admission in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Those credentials reflect both trial- and appellate-level practice, and he regularly files and argues motions in federal court.

Colleagues note his steadiness in written advocacy. He spent formative years inside appellate chambers where attention to citation, precedent and succinct argument is constant. That background informs how he prepares briefs and how he organizes case files. He brings bench-side experience into attorney-client work rather than starting legal analysis from a purely theoretical place.

Outside the courtroom he has maintained connections to academic communities through alumni networks from Drew University and the Washington College of Law. His path from undergraduate study to federal clerkship and then into firm practice is marked by steady movement through institutions that emphasize procedural rigor.

Today Buzzard is based at Joseph & Kirschenbaum LLP. He appears in both state and federal courts and continues to handle matters that require litigation and appellate work. His current practice is focused on litigation in federal and state courts.
