About Louise N.
Louise N. Smith began her academic path in the humanities and communication before turning to law. She earned a B.A. in Journalism from Auburn University in 2005 and stayed at Auburn to complete an M.A. in Communication in 2006. After a period of professional development she entered Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law and received her J.D. in 2011.
Her legal career is rooted in Georgia. She is licensed to practice in that state and, two years after finishing law school, became a co-owner of SMITH LAW, LLC in 2013. The co-ownership role has defined the arc of her practice, placing her in a leadership position within a small firm setting where case strategy and client communication intersect on a daily basis.
Smith’s background in journalism and communication shows through in her work. She brings those skills to legal writing, client counseling and courtroom presentations. Her membership in professional groups reflects the areas she engages most often. She is an active member of the American Bar Association and participates in the Atlanta Bar Association’s Labor & Employment Law Section. She also serves on the board of the Georgia Chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association, a position that involves collaboration with other attorneys and engagement in issues affecting workplace law in the state.
Within the firm, Smith handles matters that stem from the workplace and employer-employee relationships. She represents clients on a range of employment and labor matters, advising on rights and remedies available under state and federal law. Her approach tends to emphasize clear written work and direct communication. Colleagues note that her earlier training in media and messaging informs how she frames arguments and prepares witnesses.
Outside casework, Smith has maintained steady involvement in bar activities and chapter governance. Serving on a nonprofit chapter board requires balancing administrative duties with the demands of a busy practice. That dual role has shaped how she manages priorities and steers firm policy on client intake and case management.
She continues to practice in Georgia as co-owner of SMITH LAW, LLC, handling employment and labor matters at the firm.
