About Lorna

Lorna Maloney studied three different fields before she became an attorney. She earned a B.S. in Psychology from High Point University in 1999, an M.A. in Political Management from Regent University in 2002, and a J.D. from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 2005, where her studies emphasized litigation.

Her academic path moved from behavioral science to political strategy and then to the courtroom. The psychology degree gave her an early grounding in how people make decisions. The political management training offered a view of public processes and campaigns. The law degree followed, and it prepared her for the practice of litigation.

Maloney is admitted to practice in both the District of Columbia and Maryland. She is a current member of the Maryland State Bar. Those jurisdictions shape where she files cases and appears in court. They also inform the procedural rules she encounters day to day.

After law school she entered the practice of litigation. Her work has been concentrated in the Mid-Atlantic region. She works from an office listed as MALONEY & HAYES LAW OFFICES, PC. Her role there places her in regular contact with clients, opposing counsel and courts in Maryland and D.C.

Colleagues describe her approach as methodical and practical. She draws on her background in psychology when preparing witnesses and on her political studies when assessing regulatory and administrative matters. She prepares cases for trial and handles pretrial motions, discovery and negotiation. Her training in litigation at law school remains a throughline in her work.

Outside the office she maintains ties to the legal community through bar activities in Maryland. She has kept her practice current with the rules and procedural developments that affect litigation in her admitted jurisdictions. She is based at MALONEY & HAYES LAW OFFICES, PC and practices litigation matters in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
