About Liz McCurry

Liz McCurry Johnson earned a law degree and a master’s in library science from North Carolina Central University in 2008. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she graduated in 2005 with a B.A. in English. The combination of legal training and library science has shaped the way she approaches complex documents and case law.

She is admitted to practice in North Carolina state courts and has been active in professional organizations for much of her career. Johnson joined the American Bar Association in 2008 and became a member of the North Carolina Bar Association in 2009. She also holds memberships in the District 22A Bar, Wealth Counsel, Elder Counsel, and the American Association of Law Libraries.

Johnson practices at Crosswhite, Crosswhite & Johnson, PLLC. Her work there involves representing clients in matters that proceed in state court. She has taken cases through litigation and advised clients on legal decisions outside the courtroom. Colleagues describe her as methodical; she approaches files by breaking issues into discrete problems and then addressing each piece.

Her educational background informs an element of her practice that sets her apart from many peers. The master’s in library science complements the J.D. and shows up in how she handles legal research and document organization. Membership in the American Association of Law Libraries reflects an ongoing interest in research standards and access to primary materials. At the same time, memberships in Elder Counsel and Wealth Counsel point to significant work related to planning for aging clients and the structures used to protect assets and transfer wealth.

Johnson maintains an active profile in local and national bar groups. She participates in District 22A Bar activities and engages with subject-specific networks that bring together attorneys who handle trusts, estates, and elder law issues. Her practice remains rooted in North Carolina state courts, where she represents individuals and families. She currently concentrates her practice on estate planning, elder law, and related probate matters.
