About Lisa

Lisa Thorsen completed her undergraduate studies at Pennsylvania State University, earning a B.A. in American Studies in 2004. She went on to attend California Western School of Law, where she received her J.D. in 2008. Those years shaped her early understanding of the law and prepared her for work on both coasts.

She began her legal career at Circuit, McKellog, Kinney & Ross, LLP, joining the firm as an associate in 2007. There she worked on day-to-day matters for a firm environment and learned how client matters move through the system. The experience offered casework and office practice that would inform her later choices as a lawyer and manager.

In 2014 she took on the role of managing partner at Thorsen Legal. That move marked a transition from associate-level practice to leadership. As managing partner she oversees the firm's operations and the delivery of legal services. The position requires attention to case strategy, staffing, and the administrative side of running a small firm.

Thorsen is licensed to practice in both Texas and California. She maintains a bi-state practice and splits professional responsibilities between those jurisdictions when client needs require it. Working in two states has meant adapting to different court rules and local procedures. It has also shaped how she approaches scheduling, filings, and client communication.

Colleagues describe her as someone who attends to the practical elements of a case and to the organizational work that keeps a firm functioning. She has balanced client-facing responsibilities with internal management since taking the helm at Thorsen Legal. That balance defines much of her day-to-day work: preparing pleadings, advising clients on procedural matters, and overseeing the docket and staff workflows.

Outside of firm duties, she maintains the professional contacts and memberships common to practicing attorneys, and she continues to follow developments in both state courts where she is admitted. Her practice today centers on managing client matters and firm operations across Texas and California, handling litigation and procedural work that arises in those jurisdictions.
