About Lisa

Lisa Strassner began her academic path studying political science at the University of California, Davis, where she completed a B.A. in 1992. She went on to earn a J.D. from Western State University College of Law in 1995. Those years framed a practical approach to the law that would shape both courtroom work and classroom instruction later in her career.

Soon after law school, Strassner moved into practice in Los Angeles County. She began working as a lawyer there in 1996 and spent her early years building experience in the local courts. That period gave her steady exposure to the procedural realities of California litigation and the day-to-day demands of practicing lawyers in a busy jurisdiction.

Her career took a different turn in 2022 when she served on the bench of the Los Angeles Superior Court. In that role she adjudicated matters in a court system known for heavy caseloads and diverse claims. The experience on the bench added a judicial perspective to the years she had spent advocating in court, sharpening her understanding of how judges manage cases and write orders.

Also in 2022, Strassner took a role in legal education. She joined the University of West Los Angeles, College of Law, as an adjunct professor. In the classroom she worked directly with law students, translating courtroom practice into lessons about procedure, advocacy and professional standards. Students who studied under her encountered a teacher who could draw on both advocacy and judicial experience.

Across practice, adjudication and teaching, Strassner’s career shows an interest in the intersection between how law is argued and how it is decided. She has moved between roles that require different skill sets: client advocacy, impartial decision-making and instruction. Each role has informed the others. Time on the bench influenced how she approached case strategy as a lawyer. Time teaching clarified the practical skills aspiring attorneys need for court work.

As of 2026 she remains active in the Los Angeles legal community and maintains an affiliation with the University of West Los Angeles, combining academic engagement with court-related work. She currently focuses her practice on a mix of legal education and court service.
