About Lisa Procter
Lisa Procter Denman trained as a scientist before she became a lawyer. She holds a B.S. in Genetics from the University of California, Davis, earned in 1996, and a J.D. from the University of California, Davis, School of Law, completed in 2005. Those academic chapters set the stage for a practice that moves between public service and private representation.
Early in her legal career Denman joined Helmer Johnson Misiaszek & Kenealy as an associate in 2006. She launched a solo practice the following year. In 2008 she took a post in the Oneida County Lawyer’s Office, a turn that added government-side experience to her resume. Records show she returned to private practice under the name Lisa P. Denman, Lawyer at Law in 2007 and again in 2020. In 2021 she began work as a staff lawyer at Legal Services of Central New York.
Those roles map a steady movement between different kinds of legal work. At the county lawyer’s office she handled matters on behalf of a local government client. At Legal Services of Central New York she provided legal assistance to individuals who lacked other means of representation. Her time in private practice has seen her advise and represent local clients on discrete legal problems and disputes.
Denman’s background in genetics and law gives her a methodical approach to problem solving. She tends to break complex issues into manageable parts. Colleagues and clients have described her as thorough and clear in explaining options, and she brings courtroom experience as well as transactional work to her engagements.
She is active in the local bar community and is a current member of the Oneida County Women’s Bar Association. That membership places her in conversation with other practitioners across a range of practice areas in the county and region.
Today she maintains her practice under the name Lisa P. Denman, Lawyer at Law and is licensed to practice in New York. Her day-to-day work balances private representation with public-interest assignments, and her current practice focuses on civil legal aid and county-level legal matters.
