About Lisa Millican
Lisa Millican Ewing built a path to law after an earlier career grounded in business studies. She studied accounting, psychology and business administration at the University of Memphis and later earned her J.D. from Nashville School of Law in 2007. Those academic choices left a practical imprint on how she approaches client matters: methodical, attentive to detail and attuned to the financial elements that often accompany legal disputes.
After law school, Ewing entered practice in Tennessee. She established Ewing Law Office LLC in 2007 and has worked there as a lawyer since then. Her name also appears on the roster of McCarthy Law PLC, where she serves as counsel. Those roles have given her experience in both solo practice and collaborative firm settings, where different case loads and team dynamics shape daily work.
Ewing’s involvement in the legal community extends beyond client files. She has been a member of the Tennessee Bar Association since 2008 and remains active in the Nashville Bar Association. From 2012 to 2015 she served as a mentor for the Belmont University College of Law American Inn of Court, a program designed to link newer lawyers with more experienced practitioners for professional development and ethical training. In 2016 she was listed by the Tennessee Supreme Court as a Rule 31 family law mediator, a designation that recognizes her role in resolving disputes outside the courtroom.
The mediator listing reflects a substantial portion of her practice. Colleagues and local attorneys have referred family law matters to her and she has handled cases that require negotiation, parenting plans and financial settlement work. Her background in business and accounting informs how she addresses asset division and support issues, where numbers and documentation matter as much as legal arguments.
Ewing’s courtroom time and her work in mediation show two sides of a single practice. In court she advances clients’ positions through hearings and filings. In mediation she helps parties reach practical outcomes that avoid litigation when possible. She has continued to balance client advocacy with dispute resolution services for more than a decade.
Based in Tennessee, she maintains a local practice while also participating in broader bar activities. Her professional record includes both private practice and collaborative roles that shape how she advises clients today.
She currently practices in Tennessee, concentrating on family law and mediation.
