About Lisa Marie
Lisa Marie Bustos earned her B.A. in psychology from St. Edward’s University and continued her legal training at Saint Louis University School of Law, where she completed her J.D. Those studies shaped a practical approach to contested family matters and emphasized the human dynamics at the center of many legal disputes. She returned to Texas after law school and began working in the Austin area, where she has concentrated her practice on family law.
Early in her career Bustos joined local bar groups and professional organizations to deepen her knowledge and network. She is a member of the Austin Bar Association and the Austin Young Lawyers Association. She also belongs to the Texas Family Law Foundation, and holds memberships in the Hays County and Williamson County bar associations. During law school she was part of Phi Delta Phi, the legal honor society.
Bustos developed courtroom experience handling a range of family law matters. She represents clients in divorces and contested custody proceedings and handles child support and property division disputes. She also advises on paternity issues and protective orders when safety concerns arise. Her work often involves negotiating agreements, preparing court filings, and presenting evidence and testimony when cases proceed to trial.
Colleagues describe her as pragmatic in negotiation and steady under pressure. She prepares cases to be resolved when settlement is possible, and to be tried when settlement cannot be reached. That dual readiness shapes how she counsels clients about strategy and next steps. She pays attention to procedural detail, the evidentiary record, and the practical effects of court orders on daily life.
Bustos has built a practice that serves clients across Austin and surrounding counties. She opened Bustos Family Law PLLC to provide a local option for people facing divorce, custody disputes, or other family-related litigation. Her office handles matters from initial intake through resolution, whether by agreement or by court decision. The firm works with clients of varied backgrounds and seeks to address both immediate legal needs and longer-term family concerns.
She maintains active involvement in the local legal community through association memberships and continuing legal education. That engagement keeps her current on changes to Texas family law and courtroom procedure. She now practices at Bustos Family Law PLLC, representing individuals in family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, paternity, and protective orders.
