About Lisa M

Lisa M Knauf studied storytelling before she studied law. She earned a B.A. in Journalism and Communications from Marquette University and later took up legal studies at Northern Illinois University, where she received her J.D. Those two tracks — journalism and law — have shaped her approach to legal work: careful fact-gathering, clear writing, and an eye for detail.

After law school Knauf built a practice in Illinois. She is licensed to practice in the state and has participated in local and national bar organizations since 2010. Her professional memberships include the DuPage County Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the DuPage Association of Women Lawyers, and the American Bar Association. Those affiliations have kept her connected to developments in state law and to colleagues across practice areas.

Colleagues describe her work style as methodical. Her journalism background informs how she prepares a case. She places emphasis on thorough research and written advocacy. That foundation supports tasks that range from drafting pleadings to preparing factual narratives for settlement discussions or court filings.

Knauf has spent much of her time practicing at a firm that bears her name, Knauf Law. There she manages client matters, oversees case strategy, and coordinates with other attorneys and support staff. Clients encounter an attorney who prefers clarity over flourish and precision over excess. She tends to break complex issues into plain terms so clients understand their options and potential outcomes.

Her involvement in bar associations has included attending continuing legal education programs and participating in local networking and professional development efforts. Those activities reflect an interest in staying current on changes in Illinois law and in contributing to the local legal community. She has remained active in DuPage-area legal circles while maintaining a practice that serves clients across the state.

Outside the office Knauf’s early training in journalism still shows in how she communicates. She writes plainly and listens closely. That combination informs how she prepares a case and how she explains it to clients. She currently practices at Knauf Law, representing clients in matters before Illinois courts and tribunals.
