About Lisa
Lisa Benson earned her Juris Doctor from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2005. She completed her legal education at UND after earlier studies in the region. The law school years shaped her approach to practice and grounded her in the procedural and substantive rules that govern work in North Dakota courts.
After finishing law school, Benson began her professional life in North Dakota. She has built a career centered on serving clients in the state where she trained. Over the years she has worked on matters that require courtroom experience as well as transactional and advisory work. That combination has kept her practice varied and responsive to client needs.
Benson’s work has involved representing individuals and businesses in matters filed in state courts and in administrative proceedings. She has prepared pleadings, negotiated settlements, and taken cases through trial when resolution at the negotiating table was not possible. In other matters she has drafted contracts, advised on compliance questions, and assisted clients in planning to reduce later disputes. Her practice has required balancing litigation demands with attention to preventative counseling.
Colleagues describe Benson as practical and steady in her handling of cases. She communicates plainly and focuses on the legal questions that drive a client’s decisions. Those qualities have shaped how she manages files and interacts with opposing counsel and judges. Benson’s training at UND and her years practicing in North Dakota courtroom settings inform that pragmatic approach.
Outside the courtroom, Benson has engaged in client counseling that touches on business formation and routine transactional needs. That work has ranged from drafting basic agreements to advising small business owners on organizational choices. She applies the same attention to detail in these matters as she does in litigation files.
As of 2026 Benson practices in North Dakota at Lawyer at Law. Her career spans the years since she completed her J.D., and she continues to serve clients in state courts and in advisory capacities. She currently focuses her practice on handling litigation and transactional matters for individuals and businesses in North Dakota.
