About Lisa A.

Lisa A. Copland built a legal path that began in the classroom and moved quickly into hands-on work. She earned a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law in 1997, where she studied civil litigation and dispute resolution. Before that she completed a B.A. in politics at Princeton University in 1994. Those academic credentials framed an early interest in courtroom work and in teaching law to others.

Her first professional steps were at Northwestern’s Bluhm Legal Clinic, where she served as a staff lawyer in 1997 and as a clinical assistant professor in 1999. Those years placed her in client-centered practice while she supervised and taught law students. The clinic experience exposed her to a range of civil matters and to the practical demands of legal advocacy under real-world constraints.

In the early 2000s Copland moved into private practice. She joined Monahan & Cohen as an associate in 2001 and later worked as an associate at Audrey L. Gaynor & Associates, P.C. in 2003. In 2004 she was on the team at the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving, Ltd. Each position added new casework and courtroom exposure. Colleagues from that period describe a lawyer who combined careful preparation with steady courtroom presence.

By 2005 she launched her own practice, operating as Lisa A. Copland, P.C., Lawyers at Law. She has maintained an active Illinois practice since then. Outside the office she has been a member of the Cook County Bar Association since 2011 and has held professional membership that dates back to 1997. Those connections have kept her engaged in local legal circles and provided a steady flow of professional exchange.

Copland’s background in civil litigation and dispute resolution, coupled with years of clinical teaching and trial work, shapes the way she handles cases. She approaches client matters methodically and places emphasis on preparation before trial. She practices in Illinois and currently accepts matters through her firm, Lisa A. Copland, P.C., concentrating on civil litigation and dispute resolution.
